*** We've moved.... ***

Post by theraven1979 »

https://gigography.themeninblack.co.uk/

More dates added than on here.

All 1974-1990 will be updated over there. Along with a comprehensive Hugh gigography

The post 90 dates will be maintained on here for anyone that's interested

I really liked the format of the page. It will be excellent to see have that info to browse through.

Thank you

Thanks for the comments - as you can see it's actively being worked on but any missing dates or any comments on any of the gigs are always welcome. Trawling through the Hugh gigs there's so many where I think "why didn't I go to that?!"

The site is mobile friendly as well and is a PWA (which means you can install it as part of an "app" for offline browsing etc)

You know what might give you some more info for Hughie? Obvs you'd have to do more research, but if you look at this:

https://www.concertarchives.org/bands/t ... cert-table

Some of these gigs in 2001 are actually HC gigs, rather than Stranglers ones. I think, anyway. Stables you have on the list. For sure the Norwich Arts Ctr one was Hugh. Borderline in London (you have the November one on your site but there was definitely one earlier in 01 and that could have been the one listed in June on this page), Ruislip Golf Centre ... definitely Hugh - the Ruislip one is on your website, but it was actually two shows over two days (wasn't it?!!? does anyone else remember? maybe it was an afternoon show followed by an evening show? but it was definitely two shows) and it was called the Ruislip Golf Club, although I am also seeing "Comedy Bunker" on concertarchive. I am sure I recorded it on either one or both days. I think I read some sort of thread about it here, from the person who organised it.

Yeah that's the issue really - I need concrete dates. The best source of dates post 2000 amusingly is this site as we discussed the tours at the time. Doing a search for "tonight" or "last night" in the Hugh forums returns tons of gig reviews.

I've had AI all over it and when looking through sources it keeps coming back to the forums and setlist.fm

Yes, that makes sense. It seems that so many people prefer fb and insta now and don't really use a forum so you can't actually always get answers on this forum, but the archives are a real treasure trove.

Well I'm glad people used the forums and wrote reviews on here that are easy to find otherwise the gigography just wouldn't exist. Do people write gig reviews on FB and Instagram?

The forums also existed a good 8-10 years prior to FB

Really? Wasn't 2006 the big FB explosion year?

From what I see when I look at profiles of people who I think would have been at the gig, there are only pictures and, although a picture is worth a thousand words, really, it's not when it comes to a review.
With the advent of phones with cameras and Internet in them, people stopped writing and started snapping and sending. I think?
